about

"As an album, “Of What is Left” contains a much fuller sonic landscape than it’s predecessors, Stay For a While and Until It Passes By, which were either completely solo or with minimal drum and bass accompaniment. Having my life long friends, Michael Hunter on drums and Chris McLean on bass, backing me as The Cable 22’s and local musical hero Matt Ouimet recording/mixing/mastering and adding additional instrumentation, the bar was raised significantly.

Hearing everything come together was mind bending. We gave it our all and the result reflects it. The album has fast anthems, slow ballads, full band and solo songs that all stay true to my original sound but offer the listener a diverse audio experience. "

From fist pumping, stomp your feet working-man anthems to soulful ballads of love, heartache and loss, James' songs are all rich in storytelling. Intensely thought-out lyrics grind through James' raspy vocal chords with powerful emotion to produce rich, dark imagery, that can really punch you in the heart. The experience escalates even further when backed by his band, The Cable 22's, consisting of bassist Chris McLean and drummer Michael Hunter.
